The Incredible Prediction: See For Yourself!

This afternoon on WPGU 107.1, David der Geist’s NCAA bracket prediction was finally revealed, live on the air. Under close supervision, the safe was opened, revealing a small locked box. Inside the box was a sealed envelope containing the predicted bracket. Although some of David’s entries were not immediately understood by the observers in the studio, our friend Jessica with Illini Media was on hand to research some of the more cryptic responses.

“I don’t follow sports at all,” David says, “so when I get impressions about this kind of stuff, they often come to me as images. They don’t always make sense to me.” One of the first examples of the more unusual entries was the word “Toto”–representing Kansas.

While WPGU deejay Elena continued with the music, Jessica and others on the staff compared a copy of the actual final bracket with David’s–a bracket that had been filled in on March 9 (before the initial match-ups had been announced), placed in a safe, and kept inside the WPGU studio until today. One by one, connections were made between the official bracket and David’s responses, until it was determined that all of David’s entries were 100% correct.

While you’re comparing David’s bracket with the actual results, be sure to take a look at the three sentences at the bottom. If you were listening to the reveal live, you already know what those comments mean. If you missed it, you’d better head to Google. And we mean right now. Trust us.
